MARATHON is the midway point of the
FLORIDA KEYS resting between Key West and
Key Largo. The Middle Keys include Conch Key, Duck Key, Grassy Key, the Crawl keys, Key Colony Beach, Key Vaca, Fat Deer Key, Knight's Key and Pigeon Key.

MARATHON has a commercial airport. Miami International Airport is approximately 2.5 hour away drive and Key West International Airport is one-hour drive from MARATHON.
Settlements in the Middle Keys can be traced back to the early 1800s, when Bahamians established tropical-fruit farms and fishermen from New England settled in the region. In the early 1900’s, Henry Flagler's Overseas Railway reached Key Vaca, home to the village of Marathon and headquarters of the railroad's final Key West extension.
An abundance of water sports activities await visitors.
WORLD-CLASS SPORT FISHING is available offshore, on the natural reef, or in Florida Bay. Excursions are available to world famous snorkeling and scuba diving destinations. In addition, the Middle Keys offer environmental attractions, opportunities to swim with dolphins, explore a hardwood hammock, and natural beaches.
